Samsung has made several 200MP camera sensors that can be a great fit for telephoto cameras on smartphones. However, it hasn't used those sensors in the zoom cameras of its own phones. Earlier, Xiaomi, and now, Vivo have used one of those sensors in their upcoming Ultra smartphone.

Vivo X200 Ultra Rear Camera Sensors

Vivo has revealed the names of the camera sensors used in its upcoming flagship smartphone, the Vivo X200 Ultra. It has three rear-facing cameras:

  1. Primary Wide-Angle: 50MP Sony LYT-818 (1/1.28-inch)
  2. Ultrawide: 50MP Sony LYT-818 (1/1.28-inch)
  3. Telephoto: 200MP Samsung ISOCELL HP9 (1/1.4-inch)

There are three big sensors on the rear, and the image above shows how massive the rear camera housing is. Theoretically, it should offer better image and video quality than Samsung's flagship phones.

It isn't clear what the telephoto camera's optical zoom range will be. The front-facing camera's resolution and other aspects are also unknown as of now.

It isn't the first time Vivo has used a 200MP camera from Samsung. Last year, it used Samsung's 200MP ISOCELL sensor in the X100 Ultra's telephoto camera.

The Vivo X200 Ultra will be announced early next month but will not be launched outside of China. That means it won't be a threat to the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
