Samsung initially mentioned compatibility with Volvo and Polestar earlier this month when it announced that the Wallet platform is coming to Galaxy S25 users in Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg.
This week, Samsung clarified through a new blog post that Volvo is getting support for Samsung Wallet Digital Key this month in Europe, North America, Latin America, Australia, Malaysia, and Thailand.
Meanwhile, Polestar will be added to the Digital Key feature this month in Europe, North America, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, and Singapore.
Availability will continue to expand into more markets. Furthermore, availability for Volvo and Polestar vehicles will also be improved over time.
Initially, the Samsung Wallet Digital Key platform will support only two vehicles, i.e., the Volvo EX90 and the Polestar 3. Samsung specifically mentions in its fine print that “More vehicles will follow.”
Devices compatible with the Samsung Wallet Digital Key feature include the Galaxy S20 and newer, the Galaxy Note 20 series, the Galaxy Z Fold 2 and newer, and the Galaxy Z Flip 5G and later.
The Digital Key feature in Samsung Wallet offers three ways to unlock supported vehicles, i.e., through Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), Near Field Communication (NFC), and Ultra-wideband (UWB). The latter connectivity feature is available only for select Galaxy phones.
