Earlier this week, we finally got our hands on the elusive and very rare Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition. And it's becoming our YouTube star. We spent a few days with this special foldable device and are ready to bring you another video.
Today, we're exploring the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition and Galaxy Z Fold 6 cameras. First, here's a quick hardware recap.
Galaxy Z Fold 6 cameras:
- 50MP rear wide: 23mm, f/1.8 aperture, OIS, dual pixel PDAF.
- 12MP rear ultrawide: 12mm, 123 degrees FOV, f/2.2.
- 10MP rear telephoto: 66mm, 3x optical zoom, f/2.4, PDAF, OIS.
- 10MP cover screen camera: 24mm, f/2.2, HDR.
- 4MP UDC (Under Display) selfie camera: 26mm, f/1.8.
Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition cameras:
- 200MP rear wide: f/1.8, PDAF, OIS.
- 12MP rear ultrawide: 12mm, 123 degrees FOV, f/2.2, AF.
- 10MP rear telephoto: 66mm, 3x optical zoom, f/2.4, PDAF, OIS.
- 10MP cover screen camera: 24mm, f/2.2, HDR.
- 4MP Infinity-O (not UDC) selfie camera: 26mm, f/1.8.
In short, the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition replaces the main wide 50MP camera with a 200MP sensor and ditches UDC technology for a more usual Infinity-O selfie camera, albeit with the same lower resolution. Plus, the ultrawide camera now has autofocus.
That's just how these phones differ on paper, but the Special Edition foldable has a couple more surprises. You can check out our latest video below to see exactly how the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition and Fold 6 cameras compare side by side.
Availability hasn't changed, so, if you like the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition, you can't buy it outside of Korea. It's also available in China, with a different finish, under the W25 name. But it hasn't been released anywhere else.
However, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 is still a decent choice, and you might even be able to find it at a discount now that the SE is out and the holiday shopping season is in full swing.
