There are a lot of limitations to which apps can run on Android Auto. It is mostly limited to media playback, messaging, and navigation. However, Google opened up Android Auto a bit to allow a few more types of apps, including those that offer EV charging information, smart home controls, and weather. Weather & Radar app has now added more features to its Android Auto app.
Weather & Radar app comes to Android Auto
Weather & Radar was the first integrated full weather app to be launched for Android Auto screens, and it was launched last year. The latest version of the popular weather app now supports more features on Android Auto. It now includes interactive radars, TemperatureRadar, WindRadar, and weather alerts while driving. The app now also offers a more refined user experience for a more reliable weather service while you're driving. So, if you have that app installed on your Galaxy (or other Android) smartphone, you can view more detailed information about the weather at any location. The TemperatureRadar layer displays the current temperature, while WindRadar displays wind conditions and speed. You can choose between the various layers via the layers icon on the top of the app.
The app also supports split-screen mode, which means you can have it placed side by side with Google Maps or other navigation and media playback apps on the Android Auto home screen. This app is also available for Android Automotive OS, which means it can be installed standalone on cars running the Android Automotive operating system.
Google is bringing new Android Auto features every year. A few days ago, it started displaying 3D maps in Google Maps. It will also allow people to browse the web using Google Chrome when they are not driving the car. The Galaxy S24 can do more with Android Auto, including summarizing messages and suggesting replies. Samsung phones can also run the SmartThings app in Android Auto, making it easier to control your smart home devices from the car.
