Another feature is brewing in the house of the popular chat platform WhatsApp, especially for admins. Recently, WhatsApp has been spotted developing a bunch of new features for its platform to expand its feature list. Now, another group chat-focused feature is under testing that gives admins the power to control who can join the group chat.
Notably, according to WABetaInfo, in the latest WhatsApp beta, a new feature is under development that, when enabled, gives admins the power to decide who can join the group chats. A few months ago, we reported that WhatsApp was working on a feature to let admins decide who is allowed to join a group chat. In the latest WhatsApp beta update, we get to see the feature in action and get a peek at how it will arrive.
A list of pending requests to join the group might also show up beneath the toggle
As per the screenshot shared, this feature is available under the Group settings, and the toggle is titled Approve new participants. WhatsApp's new 2.22.18.9 beta update does not come with this feature. However, the folks at WABetaInfo successfully managed to trigger it. Moreover, they also speculate that once you enable this feature, you will see a list of pending requests to join the group chat beneath the toggle.
Also, it is expected that after this feature goes live, group admins will receive a notification when someone wants to join a group chat. It is nice to give some actual powers to the admin because it will help in keeping unwanted people out of a group. Because admins will be able to avoid spam and safeguard user privacy. This will also allow admins to cross-check with the group members to verify the authenticity of the chat request.
