A new feature is under development for WhatsApp users on Android. After making the animated beating heart emoji available to some iOS users in beta back in January, WhatsApp quickly pulled down this feature within a few weeks. While the reason for disabling the feature for iOS users is unknown, WhatsApp users on Android who wanted the same feature would be thrilled to know it could arrive soon in the near future.
Since the animated heart emoji feature for WhatsApp Android users is under development, there is no deadline on when this feature could arrive. According to WABetaInfo the feature is a work-in-progress but isn't ready to be released to the beta testers. As per the shared screenshot, you can see animated heart emojis in different colors. However, to view the animation, the feature should also be enabled for the recipient of the message. For iOS users, there is no clarity if it would be re-released or not.
While this feature may look pretty new, Telegram has already had this feature for quite some time now. In fact, Telegram even allows you to convert your videos into stickers, which makes interactions much more fun. Meta's WhatsApp is way behind Telegram when it comes to offering features to its users. However, it is nice to see that WhatsApp is trying to at least dive into the world of animated emojis.
