Last month, a beta version of WhatsApp for Android brought a new feature to the platform called Lists, which lets you create lists and add people to them. However, it was accessible only to internal testers and therefore, there wasn’t much information about how it worked or what benefits it offered. Well, that’s changing today.
In a new report, WABetaInfo shows one of the first use cases of Lists. According to the publication, the latest beta version of WhatsApp for Android allows you to use the lists that you have created as filters, as you can see in the image below.
For instance, you can create a list called ‘Family’ and add all your family members to it. Now, on the chat screen, you will be able to find Family as a filter. Once you click on it, WhatsApp will show you chats of only your family members. This feature makes it easier for you to find chats, thereby, saving you significant time and hassle.
Meta could also leverage Lists to offer more features. For example, it could use Lists for statuses to allow users to share their status with people in a particular list. This would make it easier for them to broadcast their status only to the people they want.
The story continues after the video…
At the moment, there’s no information about when Meta will release the feature to the public. However, going by WhatsApp’s feature rollout history, the company could bring this feature to the stable version of the app in the next two to three months.
