Recently, we reported that WhatsApp is testing a new feature that will allow users to create self-destructing groups. Also, the company was spotted testing the ability to mute spam calls. It is now being reported that the Meta-owned chat platform is working on a new text editor for WhatsApp.
According to WABetaInfo, the new text editor is currently under testing on the latest WhatsApp iOS beta v23.5.0.72. With the new feature, users would be able to decorate their images with new fonts and other tools. The new fonts can be switched instantly from the different font options shown above the keyboard.
There are plans to add some more fonts in this WhatsApp text editor, including Calistoga, Courier Prime, Damion, Exo 2, and Morning Breeze. This will really enhance the drawing experience of WhatsApp users. Apart from fonts, users can also change the alignment to the left, right, or center of the texts in images, videos, or GIFs. You will also be able to change the text background color, allowing you to differentiate the text from the rest.
This new WhatsApp text editor is under development and was spotted in the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS (version 23.5.0.72), available on TestFlight. Since WhatsApp is known to bring iOS features to Android, once the feature goes live for the iOS app, you could soon see it launching for Android users as well. However, as of now, there is no information on when WhatsApp will gain the new text editor on Android. We will keep you posted if there is any development.
