A few weeks ago, it was revealed that Meta is working on the screen-sharing feature for WhatsApp. Now, the company has announced that it is rolling out two new video calling-related features to WhatsApp: Landscape Mode and Screen Sharing. These two features will take WhatsApp closer to specialized video conferencing apps like Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, and Zoom.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced on Facebook that WhatsApp has started rolling out the screen-sharing feature during video calls. Users can use this feature to share what's being displayed on their device's screen with others in the video call. This feature is excellent for sharing ideas, presentations, PDFs, and notes. It also allows users to help their friends or family get things done. What's good about WhatsApp's screen-sharing feature is that it enables users to share a specific app or their entire screen.
Another good feature is that video calls can be viewed in landscape mode, allowing users to view things clearly. It is excellent to view presentations and web pages. These new features have started to roll out on Android, iOS, macOS, and Windows. However, the rollout will be phased, and not everyone will get the feature immediately. Be sure to keep WhatsApp updated (to version 2.23.11.19) on your Galaxy device to get the new features as soon as possible.
Over the past couple of years, WhatsApp has quickened the pace at which it brings new features. Some of the significant improvements it brought to its apps are the ability to transfer chat history from Android to iOS (and vice versa), group video calls, animated stickers and bigger emojis, sticker recommendations, chat locks, and the ability to use the same WhatsApp account on multiple devices.
