The Android 12 One UI 4.0 update is now available for a few Samsung flagship phones, but as we all know, the company plans to release One UI 4.0 for dozens of other Galaxy devices from different price brackets. The upper-mid-range Galaxy A71 is one of the phones eligible for One UI 4.0, and Samsung recently reconfirmed that customers in India should expect the Android 12 update to land on the Galaxy A71 sometime in April 2022.
Samsung mentioned this tentative release time frame for the Galaxy A71 in India last month, and thankfully, things appear to be going according to the original plan. According to a Samsung Customer Support representative (via Samsung Community), the Android 12-based One UI 4.0 update for the Galaxy A71 has remained on target for an April 2022 release.
Some markets could get the update sooner
The good news for Galaxy A71 users in other markets is that they may receive Android 12 earlier than April, at least judging by the fact that other markets usually have a higher priority than India when it comes to Samsung's firmware releases. For instance, the official roadmap indicates that One UI 4.0 should become available to Galaxy S21 series customers in India this month, even though the firmware debuted in other markets last month.
Galaxy A71 owners will be glad to know that Android 12 won't be the last major update, even though the phone was released running Android 10. The Galaxy A71 is eligible for Samsung's new 3-year update policy, which means it will receive Android 13 in the distant future.
