At this point in time, not even Samsung might be sure when it will be ready to release the stable One UI 7 update for devices other than the Galaxy S25. The upcoming flagship series is expected to run One UI 7 out of the box, but what about older Galaxy devices? When will they get the next-gen upgrade?
We can only guess based on recent events and rumors. Samsung has done things differently this time around, with the One UI 7 beta program opening later than usual and for fewer devices than before.
Furthermore, the launch of the previous update – One UI 6.1 – last year was staggered for older Galaxy phones. One UI 6.1 was the first to feature Galaxy AI, and adding or omitting the AI suite on a case-by-case basis led to changes in the development timeframe. Therefore, the launch schedule of One UI 6.1 is a poor benchmark for guessing Samsung's plans for One UI 7.0.
With that being said, here's when we think Samsung might release stable One UI 7.
- First, the Galaxy S25 series will be unveiled with One UI 7 on January 22. The phones will likely go on sale a week or two later after the pre-order period.
- In February, Samsung might start releasing the stable One UI 7 update for older Galaxy flagship phones. This includes the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S23, as well as the Galaxy Z Fold & Flip 5 and 6.
- Whether older eligible Galaxy flagships will get the stable One UI 7 update in the same month as newer ones is unclear. Technically speaking, the Galaxy S21 and S22 series, as well as the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3, are eligible for One UI 7. However, there is a possibility they may lag slightly behind newer models.
- Mid-range and perhaps select low-cost Galaxy phones could then start receiving the stable One UI 7 update in March or April.
- Attempting to guess the launch of new updates for Galaxy tablets is always a bit of a crapshoot. However, eligible devices include the Tab S8 series and newer, including the S9 FE series.
Keep in mind that these tentative timeframes for the release of One UI 7 are not official or set in stone by any means. Don't make plans around these timeframes, and you won't be needlessly disappointed if things don't go according to our expectations.
