The Wi-Fi Alliance has announced that Wi-Fi 7 Ready certification is now available to compatible devices. Wi-Fi 7 is the next big standard version of Wi-Fi and an upgrade over the current Wi-Fi 6E standard. This standard has been in development since 2021 when its first draft was released, and it is now completely ready for future devices.

Wi-Fi 7 will come to future Samsung products, including Galaxy S24 Ultra

The Wi-Fi 7 standard (IEEE 802.11be) is now fully available for several devices. We expect to see laptops, PCs, smartphones, tablets, TVs, Wi-Fi routers, and others with Wi-Fi 7 in the near future. While Samsung hasn't announced its next-generation flagship smartphone series yet, leaked specifications reveal that the Galaxy S24 Ultra will be the company's first product with Wi-Fi 7. The Galaxy S24 and the Galaxy S24+ will likely remain at Wi-Fi 6E.

Future Galaxy Books, Galaxy Tabs, and smart TVs could also feature Wi-Fi 7 connectivity. This new wireless standard brings higher data transfer speeds, better reliability, and higher efficiency, thanks to 320MHz channels. Compared to Wi-Fi 6E, which has 9.6Gbps throughput, Wi-Fi 7 has a maximum throughput of 46Gbps. It operates on 2.5GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz data bands, similar to Wi-Fi 6E, and if you have Wi-Fi 7 devices and a compatible Wi-Fi 7 router, you could see less congestion, higher speeds, and improved reliability.

Devices equipped with the latest MediaTek, Qualcomm, and possibly Samsung Exynos processors feature Wi-Fi 7 compatibility. However, the latest iPhone series (iPhone 15 Pro) doesn't have Wi-Fi 7 connectivity.

Speaking of Wi-Fi, check out Samsung's new Wi-Fi-equipped smart speaker, the Music Frame, in our hands-on video below.

Wi-Fi Alliance CEO Kevin Robinson said, “The introduction of Wi-Fi CERTIFIED 7 marks the emergence of the latest generation of Wi-Fi and will be an accelerant to mass adoption of Wi-Fi 7. This certification underscores our relentless commitment to delivering cutting-edge technology that redefines the way users experience Wi-Fi, providing faster speeds, improved efficiency, and increased reliability, which expand the horizons of what is possible through Wi-Fi.

Author's Note: Samsung will likely bring Wi-Fi 7 to all its high-end laptops, smartphones, tablets, and TVs in the future. Since the Galaxy Book 4 series has been announced already, and it features Wi-Fi 6E, we expect the next-generation Galaxy Book series to come with Wi-Fi 7 connectivity.
