Earlier this year, a report from Fortune claimed that X (formerly Twitter) is developing a video streaming app for smart TVs, including those from Amazon and Samsung. On the same day, Elon Musk confirmed that X is coming to smart TVs. A month down the line, X’s CEO, Linda Yaccarino gave more details about the X TV app, including that it will be available for “most smart TVs.”
As promised, X launched the X TV app for smart TVs. Unfortunately, the company hasn’t made it available for Samsung (Tizen) TVs, as leaks had suggested. According to Digital Trends, X’s video streaming platform for smart TVs is available on the Google Play Store (for Android TVs and Google TVs), Amazon App Store (for Fire TV devices), and LG’s App Store (for WebOS TVs).
The story continues after the video…
Currently, Samsung is the largest TV brand. In fact, it has been leading the television market for 19 years in a row. Despite that, X hasn’t made the X TV app available for Samsung TVs, keeping the majority of TV users from using the platform, which is quite disappointing.
It is possible that X is working on the X TV app for Tizen OS and might release it soon. However, the fact that the company didn’t make the app available initially is quite surprising. For now, if you want to watch videos on X, you will have to resort to phones, tablets, or laptops.
