New leaks suggest that the upcoming Xiaomi Mi 12 Ultra flagship phone could come with a new Sony camera sensor and may ditch the Samsung camera sensor found on the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra.

The latest information by Digital Chat Station on Weibo (via GSMArena), suggests that the Mi 12 Ultra could come with a circular camera module. Not only the camera module is changing for this year's model, but the phone will also introduce a new Sony IMX8xx camera sensor. To recall, the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra used the Samsung ISOCELL sensor.

Moreover, the leakster also shared a couple of images of the Mi 12 Ultra in black and white colors, confirming the back design of the phone. As of now, rumors have stated that the device will pack a triple camera setup with a 50MP main, a 48MP 5x telephoto, and a 48MP ultra-wide-angle camera.

There is no information about when Xiaomi plans to debut the Mi 12 Ultra. It will be interesting to see what changes the new Sony IMX8-series sensor brings to the phone's camera quality and whether Xiaomi goes back to using Samsung sensors in the future. To remind everyone, Samsung itself is using Sony sensors on its new Galaxy S22 Ultra instead of its own sensors that were found on the Galaxy S21 Ultra.
