Samsung made a sizeable jump in the battery section with the Galaxy Z Flip 6. However, a new flip phone from Xiaomi that was announced today has a bigger battery than not only the Galaxy Z Flip 6 but also the Galaxy Z Fold 6, which is astonishing, to say the least.

Xiaomi MIX Flip battery is bigger than Galaxy Z Fold  6

Xiaomi announced its first flip phone, the MIX Flip, today in China. Despite being late to the market, Xiaomi has managed to cram in a bigger cover screen, a much bigger battery, and faster charging. However, it also falters in other areas where the Galaxy Z Flip 6 shines.

Xiaomi MIX Flip Design Dimensions

The Xiaomi MIX Flip has a 6.86-inch internal foldable OLED screen with Full HD+ resolution, 1Hz-120Hz variable refresh rate, 3,000 nits peak brightness, and Dolby Vision. It also has a 4-inch OLED cover screen with 1,392 x 1,208 pixels resolution, 1Hz-120Hz variable refresh rate, 3,000 nits peak brightness, and Dolby Vision.

It has the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, 12GB/16GB RAM, 256GB/512GB/1TB storage, and a 4,780mAh battery with 67W fast charging. In comparison, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 has a 4,000mAh battery, while the Galaxy Z Fold 6 has a 4,400mAh battery. So, the MIX Flip, being a much smaller phone, packs a much bigger battery than even the Galaxy Z Fold 6.

Watch the Galaxy Z Flip 6 in our hands-on video below.

The MIX Flip has a 50MP primary rear camera with OIS, a 50MP telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom, and a 32MP front-facing camera. Its rear cameras can record 8K 24fps videos, while the Galaxy Z Flip 6 can't. Its front-facing camera can record 4K 60fps videos.

The Chinese phone also has stereo speakers, a side-mounted fingerprint reader, 5G, GPS, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, IR port, and a USB 2.0 Type-C port. It lacks any form of dust or water resistance, though, which means the Galaxy Z Flip 6 reigns supreme in that record with an IP48 rating for particle and water resistance.

The Galaxy Z Flip 6 also features a USB 3.2 Type-C port, which is much faster than the MIX Flip's USB 2.0 Type-C port. Samsung has also promised to release seven major Android OS updates to the Z Flip 6. The MIX Flip also lacks wireless charging, while the Galaxy Z Flip 6 has both wireless and reverse wireless charging.

Both phones have their own advantages, but if you want a flip phone with an all-day battery even with heavy use, the MIX Flip would be it. However, it won't be available in most markets worldwide. It will be available in China with a starting price of CNY 5,999 (around €768 or £638 or $825).
