Four new types of devices I want Samsung to make

Samsung makes the widest range of products in the consumer electronics space. While it is known for its smartphones, smartwatches, tablets, TVs, refrigerators, and washing machines, it also makes products like induction cooktops and wine cellars. It even makes printers and water purifiers.

While the company's product range is extensive, there are four types of products that I want Samsung to make.

Smart speaker

Samsung Galaxy Home Mini

Samsung owns one of the world's biggest smart home platforms, SmartThings. However, it doesn't have a smart speaker, which can be incredibly useful to control smart home devices. Amazon, Apple, Google, and LG have their own smart speakers, but Samsung doesn't.

While Samsung showcased Bixby-powered smart speakers like Galaxy Home and Galaxy Home Mini, it never released them to the public. Now that Bixby is getting an LLM-powered AI upgrade so that it can under complex sentences and commands in a better way, it is probably the right time for Samsung to make a smart speaker or a smart display.

Samsung SmartThings Matter

It can integrated really well with Samsung's lineup of home appliances, mobile devices, TVs, and soundbars, especially if it has a built-in Matter and SmartThings hub.

Handheld gaming console

Steam Deck OLED Samsung Screen

Handheld gaming consoles are getting popular as people want to play console and PC-level games on the go. Devices like the Steam Deck and the ASUS ROG Ally have become quite popular. Nintendo will soon release its next handheld gaming console. Even Microsoft and Sony are said to be working on similar devices.

Since Samsung has a lot of experience making excellent mobile devices, I think it can make an incredible handheld gaming console.

The company already makes the world's best OLED panels and memory and storage chips. It has upped its game in developing software and services, and it is already a close partner with Microsoft. So, it can make an excellent handheld gaming device that runs SteamOS or Windows.

It would be like icing on the cake if Samsung added some custom features that offer something extra if you already have a Samsung laptop, smartphone, or TV.

Wi-Fi router with built-in smart home hub

An advanced mesh Wi-Fi router from Samsung that has a smart home hub (Matter and SmartThings) and integrates with the SmartThings platform and Galaxy phones and tablets can be a great device. The company can improve security using Samsung Knox and offer fast wireless connectivity, thanks to its experience in making smartphones.

Wireless headphones

Samsung makes some really good wireless earbuds, like the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro. However, it doesn't sell even a single pair of over-the-ear wireless headphones. I think it should make over-the-ear wireless headphones to compete with Apple's AirPods Max and Sony's WH-1000XM5.

I'm not saying this just because I want Samsung to compete with Apple and Sony. I say this by looking at Samsung's research and development in the audio space and deep experience with wireless earbuds and soundbars.

Samsung owns Harman, one of the world's biggest audio engineering and product firms. Several audio brands use Harman's audio target curve. Besides Harman, which owns AKG, Harman Kardon, Infinity Audio, and JBL audio brands, Samsung also has its own audio lab that conducts a lot of research and development in the audio space.

I believe if Samsung made wireless headphones (Galaxy Buds Max?), they could be incredibly popular, especially with users who already have Galaxy laptops, phones, tablets, and TVs. The headphones could have a seamless way to switch audio from a phone to a laptop or even a TV, and that feature could attract a lot of people.

The potential for Samsung to expand its already wide product range is huge. By venturing into these new product categories, the company could enhance its ecosystem and increase the synergy between its existing product lineups. It can not only improve loyalty among current users but also attract more consumers.
