It’s crazy how Samsung has two Galaxy S23 models with two-day battery life

The Galaxy S23 Ultra is currently the battery life champion among all Android flagships. It goes so long on a single charge that quite a few people (including us here at SamMobile) are still coming to grips with it. While it's unclear what Samsung has done to achieve this kind of battery life, the Galaxy S23 Ultra will leave every user impressed, right from day one.

The Galaxy S23 Ultra, like all the Galaxy S Ultra handsets before it, has the biggest battery inside (5,000 mAh). The Galaxy S23+ has a 4,700 mAh battery, while the base Galaxy S23 has a 3,900 mAh battery. So, as you would expect, the Galaxy S23 Ultra has the best battery life out of all three models.

One example isn't enough to provide verdicts, but my colleague Asif managed to make his S23 Ultra last three days on a single charge at least once since he started using the phone a couple of weeks back. And I constantly had the phone last more nearly two days after every charge when I reviewed it.

Basically, Samsung finally has a competitor against Apple's ‘Pro Max' iPhones when it comes to battery life. In fact, Samsung has two competitors that give the iPhone's battery life a run for its money. I've been using the Galaxy S23+ for the last couple of days, and this middle child in the S23 series also manages to stay alive for two days or more without needing a charge.

Galaxy S23+ is not far behind the S23 Ultra as far as battery life is concerned

Again, this is anectodal evidence based on my personal experience and not something that can be considered true for every user out there (after all, the use cases differ from person to person). Still, if long battery life is one of your requirements, you don't need to buy the Ultra Galaxy S23 model, unless high-quality, high-range zoom photograpy and/or the S Pen are also features on your must-have list.

You can just settle for the Galaxy S23+ instead and get similar battery life and other features as the Galaxy S23 Ultra while saving some money in the process. Yes, you will get a 50MP main camera instead of a 200MP camera, but out in the real world, believe us when we say that the 50MP camera is no slouch (or, rather, the 200MP camera is not all that better).

To sum it up, Samsung's new flagship lineup has two models with amazing battery life, so don't forget to give both the S23+ and the S23 Ultra a look if you're thinking of buying a Galaxy S23 series phone. For a specs comparison between the two phones, see the table below and also check out our device comparison page if you want a full comparison.

And if a compact phone is what you're looking for, you should consider the regular Galaxy S23 (check our review here). It requires charging more often, but still, not as much as you would expect for a phone of its size (though you will miss out on 45W charging and will be limited to 25W, which is also rather quick but doesn't sound too impressive on the spec sheet).

Galaxy phones are gaining long-term value as iPhones depreciate

Historically, one of the best attributes iPhones have enjoyed is a higher resale value than Android phones. However, although Apple devices maintain a relatively low depreciation rate even in 2024, market trends appear to be shifting. A new study by SellCell shows that, over the past few years, Apple's flagship phones lost value faster than […]
