One UI 7.0 is a complete overhaul of Samsung's custom Android skin. The company has gone back to the drawing board to create an iteration that's more intelligent, emotive, and offers enhanced personalization options for users.

Galaxy device owners have always had far more customization options. While that's partly been a function of the Android OS as well, since it's not as walled off as Apple's iOS, Samsung has always made sure that its software experience has enabled users to customize their devices as an extension of their personality.

Personalization isn't just about what color schemes you can apply to your home screen or how many widgets you can have on the lock screen. It also includes the ability to fine tune other aspects of the operating system to suit your preferences.

For example, the mobile gaming experience can often be a deciding factor for customers when they're in the market for a new phone. One UI 7.0 brings the ability to set screen refresh rates for games. Samsung is providing users with the ability to lock the refresh rate at either 60Hz to prioritize battery life or 120Hz to utilize the full potential of the super smooth 120Hz adaptive refresh rate displays on many of its devices.

There's no specific mobile gaming related setting for this on the iPhones. You can just fix it at 60Hz otherwise ProMotion, which is what Apple calls its adaptive refresh rate, would work as it sees best, so it's possible that it may not provide the full 120Hz experience during gameplay.

Another exceptional mobile gaming feature that One UI 7.0 brings is the ability to select performance settings separately for every game installed on your device. This is done through the Game Booster menu.

One UI 7.0 provides you with the full flexibility to have some games set at higher performance or others at lower settings to prioritize battery for longer gaming sessions. The iPhones don't have a similar feature, while Samsung lets you adjust these settings to find the setup that works best for you.

It's true that animations and transitions on iOS have been effortlessly smooth for years. They've been the cause of envy for Android users in general. With One UI 7.0, Samsung has focused intensively on improving this crucial element of the user experience. The way the software now behaves and reacts when you interact with it is certainly on par, if not better, than iOS. Every tap and swipe feels fluid, fast, and beautiful.

Apple's ecosystem is its biggest strength, and it's one of the reasons why iPhone users find it so difficult to shift. The Home app is a hub through which users can control all of the devices in their smart home ecosystem. The company routinely talks up its security credentials. One UI 7.0's take on ensuring security for all of your connected devices trumps that as well.

Samsung has integrated a Knox Matrix dashboard in One UI 7.0. It keeps an eye on the security status of all devices in your smart home, including TVs, home appliances, and even mobile devices. If there's a security risk on any one of those devices, Knox Matrix will immediately provide recommendations to ensure the safety of your privacy and data.

Objective iPhone users, those who still keep an open mind about exploring outside Apple's walled gardens, will not find a better candidate to take the leap for than One UI 7.0. It provides them with many features that the iPhones don't have.

The personalization options are much better, and that's before you venture into the limitless world of customization Samsung's Good Lock modules allow. Mobile gamers have the ability to significantly elevate their gameplay, and security is assured for your entire ecosystem of devices. What's not to like?

If you'd rather not wait for One UI 7.0's full public roll out, the best option to explore all that it has to offer is buying a Galaxy S25 phone. Samsung's latest flagship series comes with One UI 7.0 out of the box, so you can fully immerse yourself in the company's latest and greatest software experience from day one.
