One UI 7 beta is incredibly polished and smooth as butter

One UI 7 isn’t your usual One UI update. One reason for that is the sheer number of changes it will bring to Galaxy smartphones and tablets. The other is how Samsung is handling its rollout – of both the stable and the beta update.

The One UI 7.0 beta program launched too late. The One UI 5 and 6 beta programs started in August 2022 and 2023, while the One UI 7 beta was released in December this year.

The stable One UI 7 update, meanwhile, will come out in 2025 after the Galaxy S25’s launch. On the other hand, Samsung had released the stable One UI 6 update for several flagship and mid-range devices by this time last year.

One UI 7 beta is more stable than I expected

Samsung is essentially taking things a lot slower this time around, and that may be why One UI 7 is already so smooth and polished. I have always found One UI beta updates surprisingly stable even in the early stages, but none have come close to One UI 7.

We’re just on the second One UI 7 beta update, but it runs without a hitch. I haven’t encountered a single bug on my Galaxy S24 Ultra, and I haven’t faced any lag or stutter, either. Other users have reported some bugs, but there appear to be far fewer complaints compared to previous One UI betas.

And that’s not surprising. Major new Android and One UI updates are usually released for multiple devices before the end of the year, and I suspect Samsung is deliberately holding back the official One UI 7 release so it can make it a highlight during the Galaxy S25 launch in late January.

That may be why Samsung is reportedly cancelling the beta program for any device other than the Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra. Or at least that’s what I am assuming. Samsung could have made that decision simply because it has already considerably delayed One UI 7.

In any case, I’m loving One UI 7 even in beta, and I hope I won’t encounter any hiccups with any future beta updates that Samsung may release for the Galaxy S24 series and that the official rollout for eligible devices will go as smoothly as possible.
