11-inch Galaxy Tab S9 still makes a lot of sense to me in 2024

We do our best to bring relevant and worthwhile Samsung deals to the attention of our readers regularly, but the one we discussed earlier today really made me think about the importance of the base Galaxy Tab S9 tablet in 2024, in light of the unusual Galaxy Tab S10 series launch.

After giving it some thought, the Galaxy Tab S9 may have become my favorite tablet of the year. Yes, I know it was originally released in 2023 and surpassed by its newer and larger siblings, i.e., the Galaxy Tab S10+ and Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra. But that's precisely why it has become so interesting.

Since Samsung hasn't released a base model this year, there still seems to be lots to like about the 2023 model, especially if you're looking for a smaller premium tablet for a considerably lower price than $1,000.

One of my top year-end recommendations

You don't like a large 12.4-inch or larger tablet? Do you find the Plus and Ultra models unwieldy? The Galaxy Tab S9 has a compact 11-inch panel with top-tier specs, including Dynamic AMOLED 2X tech with 120Hz and a 1600 x 2560 resolution.

Do you want the best S Pen experience? The Galaxy Tab S9 has a low 2.8ms latency for the S Pen, just like the rest of the premium series in 2024. You don't miss out on anything S Pen-related if you pick the 11-inch Tab S9.

You don't like the idea of using a MediaTek chip, as powerful as it may be? The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is still great even in 2024 and won't let you down in any tasks you throw at it, from Galaxy AI to gaming.

You don't want to spend $999 for a 2024 flagship tablet? Say it with me one last time, “Check out the Galaxy Tab S9!” Especially this time of year when you might be able to buy it for less than $700.

The story continues after the video

I think the one downside to buying the Galaxy Tab S9 or any other Samsung premium tablet from 2023 is that you get a promise of four major Android OS upgrades. Meanwhile, Samsung confirmed the newer Galaxy Tab S10+ and Tab S10 Ultra will enjoy seven OS upgrades for seven years.

However, I will wholeheartedly recommend the Galaxy Tab S9 to anyone who can look past the firmware support detail and wants a value product. The Galaxy Tab S9 is still the best 11-inch slate in Samsung's lineup, and year-end deals will likely make that much more attractive.

Galaxy Tab S9 for $699 in 2024 is kind of a fantastic offer

Galaxy Tab S9 for $699 in 2024 is kind of a fantastic offer

Samsung changing up its flagship tablet lineup this year meant a few things. The Galaxy Tab S10 series is arguably less confusing because there are now two models instead of three, but at the same time, the entry-level price is now higher because there is no base model. This restructuring has put the 11-inch Galaxy […]

One UI 7.0 beta program will be available for both developers and users

The One UI 7.0 beta program will be available for both developers and regular users. This was always expected, but Samsung fans were a little concerned when the company only confirmed the beta for developers following the first official One UI 7.0 teaser at the Samsung developer conference (SDC24) last week. That isn't the case, […]
