Samsung’s One UI 6 stole the thunder from the iPhone 15

Did you know Apple launched a new iPhone recently? Well, of course you do. Apple's new iPhone 15 has been the talk of the town recently, with everything from the titanium frame and upgraded cameras to the powerful new A17 Pro chip and its heating issues getting a lot of attention and news coverage.

But have you noticed that just a little over a month after the iPhone 15's announcement, the hype in the media and even on X/Twitter has already fallen drastically? It's not like no one is talking about the new iPhones, but the flame that burns bright every time a new iPhone is launched is not shining so bright anymore.

Samsung, on the other hand, has coasted through it all and has actually revived interest in the Galaxy S23, its direct competitor to the iPhone 15. That's thanks to One UI 6, the next major OS upgrade along with Android 14 for Galaxy devices, which is in beta testing at the moment for the Galaxy S23, Galaxy Z Fold 5, and other Samsung smartphones.

Samsung's flagship phones for 2023 were all launched before the iPhone 15, and coverage on those devices had died down as well. But things are exciting again, as both existing and prospective customers are hearing and reading about all the new features that are coming to Samsung's smartphones later this year.

Every new iPhone launch becomes a problem for sales of Samsung's flagship smartphones, or any other manufacturer's smartphones for that matter, and for obvious reasons. But it's also the time when Samsung gets busy working on the next Android and One UI upgrade, which tends to reignite the spark, so to speak.

And once One UI 6's public rollout — when the stable version of the update is ready — begins, the coverage around Galaxy devices will become even more frantic. Now we just need to know when that public rollout is actually going to start, because the anticipation has almost reached fever pitch for Samsung fans and we're not sure we can wait much longer.

Apple who? Samsung is still king of the smartphone market

If there's one thing Samsung's good at, it's consistently beating Apple for the top spot in the global smartphone market, even in years where it sees tis overall market share drop nominally. That's precisely what happened last year, when Samsung's total market share decreased by 1% because of tough competition from Chinese OEMs. However, Samsung […]
