After delaying the launch for many months, Samsung has finally announced the Galaxy S21 FE. The phone succeeds the Galaxy S20 FE and brings a new design, updated specifications, and new software. Compared to the Galaxy S21 and the Galaxy S21+, the Galaxy S21 FE comes with a relatively affordable price tag. Anyone looking to buy an affordable phone with a high-end processor, high-refresh-rate display, and good cameras would be interested in the Galaxy S21 FE, and below are some of its best features.
120Hz Super AMOLED display + stereo speakers = Awesome entertainment
Samsung makes the best OLED display panels in the industry, and the Galaxy S21 FE uses one of those high-end panels. It has a 6.4-inch Dynamic AMOLED display with an Infinity-O design, Full HD+ resolution, and a 120Hz refresh rate. The phone can play HDR10+ content, and the screen can go as bright as 1,200 nits. When you combine the fantastic display with the phone’s stereo speakers and Dolby Atmos audio, the Galaxy S21 FE turns out to be a great multimedia consumption device.
12MP triple-camera setup with OIS
The Galaxy S21 FE has a decent camera setup, featuring three cameras: 12MP primary with OIS, 12MP ultrawide, and 8MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom and OIS. Although the camera setup looks identical to the Galaxy S20 FE, the Galaxy S21 FE features a slightly bigger ultrawide camera sensor and a newer processor, leading to image quality improvements.
Unlike most other affordable flagship phones from other brands, the Galaxy S21 FE offers a dedicated telephoto camera with OIS, and all its cameras, including the front-facing 32MP camera, are capable of recording 4K 60fps videos. So, the phone is quite flexible when it comes to imaging.
Android 12 (One UI 4.0), promise of three OS upgrades
Samsung has launched the Galaxy S21 FE with Android 12 (One UI 4.0) out of the box. Going by the company’s three OS updates promise, the smartphone will get Android 13, Android 14, and Android 15 updates in the future. It will also get an additional year of security updates.
Coming to One UI 4.0 itself, it is arguably the best Android interface right now, offering a mature design and plenty of features and customization options.
IP68 rating
Unlike most other affordable flagship phones in the market, the Galaxy S21 FE is IP68 certified, which means that it can survive dust and water. You don’t need to worry about taking the phone out for a spin beside a pool, on a beach, or while it is raining outside.
4,500mAh battery, wireless charging
A 4,500mAh battery powers the Galaxy S21 FE, and the phone can easily last an entire day, even with heavy usage. It supports 25W fast charging, 15W fast wireless charging, and 4.5W reverse wireless charging. While it is easy to take wireless charging for granted, the feature is still considered premium, and many affordable high-end phones from other brands lack this feature.
On top of all these features, the Galaxy S21 FE comes with a newer and sleeker design, similar to other devices in the Galaxy S21 lineup, and a faster processor (Exynos 2100 in some regions and Snapdragon 888 in others). It also features 5G (SA/NSA), Wi-Fi 6, NFC, and a USB 3.2 Type-C port. Other exciting features of the phone include Samsung DeX and Samsung Pay.
