Introduction
One UI 6.0 brought numerous new features and improvements to Galaxy devices and made some drastic changes to a few aspects of the user interface. DeX, the feature that lets you use your phone or tablet like a computer on an external display or TV, also picked up some enhancements.
Samsung DeX One UI 6.0 design
Samsung DeX doesn't go through design and UI changes too often, and it is a similar story with DeX on One UI 6.0 (Android 14). The only notable change is a new 2-column view for the tab list view in the Samsung Internet browser app to help you see more information on the screen at the same time.
Samsung DeX One UI 6.0 features
One UI 6.0 focuses on tablets as far as new features are concerned. Galaxy tablet owners can now switch between Classic and New modes when using DeX on the tablet instead of streaming it to external displays.
While the Classic mode converts the tablet interface into a proper desktop interface, New mode adds a persistent taskbar and forces apps to open in small pop-up windows that can be moved around, which enhances your multitasking experience while keeping the rest of the UI intact.
Samsung DeX One UI 6.0 release
The Samsung DeX changes and features detailed above were introduced with the One UI 6.0 and Android 14 update, which started rolling out to several Galaxy phones and tablets on October 30, 2023. Owners of some devices got the chance to test DeX on One UI 6 before October 30 thanks to Samsung's beta testing program.
Like previous versions of One UI, DeX on One UI 6.0 is only available for flagship smartphones and flagship and select mid-range tablets. Galaxy Z Flip smartphones lanched before 2024 also lack support for Samsung DeX.
