Introduction
The Galaxy A36 is one of Samsung's mid-range phones for the year 2025. It has a thinner and lighter design, a bigger screen, a better front-facing camera, a more power-efficient processor, and faster charging than the Galaxy A35.
Camera
The phone has a 12MP front-facing camera, an upgrade over the 13MP camera on the Galaxy A35. On the rear, it has three cameras:
- 50MP primary camera with OIS
- 8MP ultrawide camera
- 5MP macro camera
The phone supports 4K 30fps video recording with 10-bit HDR.
Design
The Galaxy A36 has a plastic frame, but the phone's front and rear are protected by Gorilla Glass Victus+ panels. It has an in-display optical fingerprint reader and an IP67 dust and water resistance rating.
It weighs 195g and measures 162.9 x 78.2 x 7.4 mm. That makes it thinner and lighter than the Galaxy A35 despite having a bigger screen.
Display
Samsung has equipped the Galaxy A36 with a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED screen with Full HD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and up to 1,900 nits of peak brightness in HDR. Brightness in high brightness mode (HBM) goes up to 1,200 nits.
Software and features
The Galaxy A36 is among the first mid-range Samsung phones to launch with Android 15 and One UI 7.0. Samsung has promised to provide six major Android OS updates (up to Android 21).
It has some AI-powered features, including AI Select, Circle to Search, improved Object Eraser, Edit Suggestions, and Read Aloud. The phone also gets Now Bar, a feature introduced with One UI 7.0.
Specifications
The Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 is the chip that powers the Galaxy A36. It is a 4nm chip fabricated by Samsung Foundry and offers 8% faster CPU performance than the Galaxy A35's Exynos 1380 chip. It also provides better power efficiency and battery life.
The chip is paired with 8GB or 12GB RAM and 128GB or 256GB internal storage. It doesn't have a microSD card slot for storage expansion.
It has a dual-SIM card slot, two eSIMs, and 5G and LTE connectivity. It also features GPS (and other GNSS protocols), Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, and a USB 2.0 Type-C port.
The Galaxy A36 is powered by a 5,000mAh battery and supports up to 45W fast charging.
Price and availability
The Galaxy A36 costs €399 in Europe, £379 in the UK, and $399.99 in the US. It will be available in select countries in late March 2025.
It comes in four colors: Awesome Black, Awesome Lavender, Awesome Lime, and Awesome White.
