Introduction

Just one day before the start of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 event, Samsung unveiled three mid-range phones in the Galaxy A lineup. The best of those three devices was the Galaxy A56.

The Galaxy A56 brought a bigger screen, a lighter and slimmer design, faster performance, faster charging, and an improved camera setup.

Camera

The Galaxy A56 has a 12MP front-facing camera, bringing improved image and video quality. On the rear, it has a triple-camera setup featuring a 50MP primary camera with OIS, a 12MP ultrawide camera, and a 5MP macro camera.

The Galaxy A56's front and primary rear cameras can record 4K 30fps in 10-bit HDR. Its Best Face feature lets you replace a person's expression with a better one. Using Filters, you can capture images that are inspired by the colors and mood in your existing photos.

Design

Samsung has trimmed the bezels to fit a slightly bigger (6.7-inch) screen on the Galaxy A56. It has a brushed aluminum frame and Gorilla Glass Victus+ on the front and the rear. Its power and volume buttons sit on a Key Island on the right side of the phone. It has an in-display fingerprint reader and stereo speakers.

The phone has an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance. It measures 162.2 x 77.5 x 7.4mm and weighs 198g, which makes it lighter and slimmer than the Galaxy A55 despite its bigger screen.

Display

It has a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED screen with Full HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. It can reach up to 1,200 nits of brightness in high brightness mode (HBM) and up to 1,900 nits during HDR video playback.

Specifications

Samsung has equipped the Galaxy A56 with its most powerful mid-range Exynos processor ever, the Exynos 1580. It has four high-performance (Cortex-A720) CPU cores and four efficient (Cortex-A520) CPU cores. Its Xclipse 540 GPU supports high-end games at good frame rates.

The phone has 8GB/12GB RAM and 128GB/256GB internal storage. It lacks a microSD card for storage space expansion.

It has a dual-SIM card slot and an eSIM. It has GPS, sub-6GHz 5G, LTE, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, and a USB 2.0 Type-C port. It is powered by a 5000mAh battery that supports up to 45W fast wired charging.

Software and features

The Galaxy A56 runs Android 15 and One UI 7.0 out of the box. It will get six major Android OS updates (up to Android 12) and six years of security updates. The phone comes with some AI features, including AI Select, Best Face, Custom Filters, Edit Suggestions, Object Eraser, and Read Aloud.

Availability and price

The Galaxy A56 is priced at $499.99 in the USA. In Europe and the UK, it costs €479.99 and £499 in the UK.
