Introduction
Samsung reserves the “Ultra” moniker for its best mobile devices, i.e., Galaxy smartphones and tablets. Never before has the company used the “Ultra” brand for a laptop, but that is changing in 2023.
The Galaxy Book 3 Ultra is the first laptop of its kind. The Ultra label indicates that the ultrabook will be at the top of the Book 3 range and may borrow some characteristics from Samsung's mobile devices, including software features usually found in One UI (such as Samsung Notes and Gallery apps), and possibly even a display notch similar to the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra tablet.
An early Bluetooth listing suggests that Samsung plans release five different Galaxy Book 3 Ultra variants identified by model numbers: NT960XFH, NP960XFH, NT961XFH, NT960XFS, and NT960XFHZ. Exactly how they differ remains to be seen.
Design
The Galaxy Book 3 Ultra should be an ultralight notebook. Our sources tell us that this notebook will be lighter than the Dell XPS 15 and the Apple MacBook Pro.
Despite this, the Galaxy Book 3 Ultra is expected to feature a full-sized keyboard with a number pad. Most design characteristics remain unknown, but a photo found in the database of a regulatory agency revealed the display lid.
In that photo, the Galaxy Book 3 Ultra has a gray finish and a “Samsung” logo engraved on the right side in the middle. It resembles a high-end Galaxy tablet, save for the fact that it doesn't have rear-facing cameras and a magnetic stripe for the S Pen.
Display
Display specifications for the Galaxy Book 3 Ultra have yet to emerge, and whether or not it will have a display notch is still a mystery. But judging by the leaked specs for the Galaxy Book 3 Pro 360, the Ultra model may boast a 16-inch Super AMOLED display.
Specifications
According to Bluetooth, the Galaxy Book 3 Ultra appears to be equipped with the Intel AX210 Wi-Fi 6E adapter. However, even though the Intel AX210 supports Bluetooth 5.3, the Galaxy Book 3 Ultra appears to use the Bluetooth 5.1 specification.
Most other hardware specs remain unknown. However, given previous leaks concerning the Galaxy Book 3 Pro 360, the Ultra model may feature LPDDR5 RAM and a 13th Gen Intel CPU.
Software
The Galaxy Book 3 Ultra will run Windows 11. The precise edition of Windows 11 remains to be determined.
Being a Galaxy laptop, it should sport some One UI features and access to apps like Samsung Notes and Samsung Gallery.
Price and Availability
Prices for the Galaxy Book 3 Ultra are unknown, but Samsung intends to unveil the laptop at Unpacked on February 1st, 2023.
Samsung is accepting reservations for the Galaxy Book 3 series, and customers who reserve the laptop can earn $50 in Samsung Credit.
