Windows laptop-tablet hybrids became popular a few good years ago and initially took several forms. Manufacturers tried all sorts of design ideas. Some hybrid laptops had spinning screens; others had detachable displays.
For Samsung, the only hybrid design element with long-term viability was the 360-degree hinge. And in 2024, Samsung's hybrid laptop-tablet portfolio consists of a pair of 2-in-1 laptop models equipped with 360-degree displays. Predictably enough, they're called the Galaxy Book 4 360 and Galaxy Book 4 Pro 360.
Galaxy Book 4 360 overview
The Galaxy Book 4 360 is Samsung's entry-level convertible laptop for 2024. The device features a 15.6-inch AMOLED touchscreen with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 and S Pen support, but Samsung sells the stylus accessory separately.
Samsung's entry-level Galaxy Book 4 360 conceals an Intel Core 7 150U CPU with Intel Graphics under the hood. It is available with 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD.
Other specs include a fingerprint reader, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, two Thunderbolt 4 ports, one HDMI 1.4 port, one USB-A 3.2 port, a microSD card slot, a headphone-out / mic-in combo, and a battery that Samsung claims will last for up to 22 hours on a full charge.
The Galaxy Book 4 360 runs Windows 11 Home. It debuted for $1,349, but you can often find it cheaper through limited-time discounts or trade-in deals.
Galaxy Book 4 Pro 360 overview
Samsung's Pro-labeled 2-in-1 hybrid laptop has a similar 360-degree design to the non-pro model, but it is a more powerful variant with better specifications and a slightly more streamlined design.
The Galaxy Book 4 Pro 360 features a 16-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X touchscreen with a resolution of 2880 x 1800 and stylus support. And, this time, the S Pen is included in the box for the full tablet S Pen experience.
This 2-in-1 laptop is powered by a more competent Intel Core Ultra 7 155H CPU and has an Intel ARC graphics chip. It, too, sports 16GB of RAM but comes with a 1TB SSD.
Although the Galaxy Book 4 Pro 360 has the same number of ports as the base model, it replaces the HDMI 1.4 port with an HDMI 2.1 output.
Last but not least, the Pro model gives you Bluetooth 5.3 and Wi-Fi 6 connectivity, a microSD card slot, quad AKG speakers with a woofer, and a battery that lasts up to 21 hours on a full charge, according to Samsung's tests.
Like the other model, the Galaxy Book 4 Pro 360 runs Windows 11 Home. But its numerous hardware upgrades pushed the launch price to $1,899. Occasional discounts can improve its value substantially.
Whether you pick the Galaxy Book 4 360 or the Galaxy Book 4 Pro 360, you can take advantage of features like exclusive Samsung apps for Windows 11 and continuity capabilities between your laptop and Galaxy phone or Galaxy tablet. If you have a Galaxy tablet, you can extend your laptop's screen to your tablet and use it as a secondary display.
