Introduction
Over the past couple of years, Samsung experimented with several wireless earbuds designs, including regular Buds, the Live, and the Pro. For 2022, the company decided to release a sequel to the Pro model rather than trying to reinvent the wheel.
Meet the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro — Samsung's latest wireless earbuds. The new generation earbuds promise better ANC (Active Noise Cancelation) technology and slight improvements to battery life. And, of course, improved audio quality is par for the course.
Design
Samsung's new wireless earbuds seemingly combine elements from the Galaxy Buds 2 and Buds Pro, but in terms of design, the Buds 2 Pro earbuds appear to take more from the Buds 2 than the Buds Pro.
The familiar design has a 15% smaller footprint. This allows for a more comfortable wearing experience, particularly when using the earbuds for extended periods of time. The carrying/charging case isn't all that different from the ones we've seen in recent years.
Specifications and Features
Each earbud measures 19.9 x 21.6 x 18.7mm and weighs just 5.5g with a 61mAh battery. The charging case weighs 43.4g with a 515mAh battery. Each earbud also features 3 high Signal to Noise Ratio microphones with an improved Wind Shield for more clarity in voice calls.
The Galaxy Buds 2 Pro has the capability to distinguish betwene noise and human voices so when you speak, it temporarily switches to Ambient mode and reduces media volume, allowing you to have conversations without having to take out the earbuds.
There's a custom coaxial 2-way tweeter and woofer inside the earbuds for an elevated listening experience. Additional features like 24bit Hi-Fi and 360 Audio with Direct Multi-Channel support further elevate the experience.
Price and Availability
Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro at its August 10, 2022 Unpacked event. The earbuds went up for pre-order the same day with August 26 scheduled as the release date. Samsung priced the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro at $229. Available color options include Graphite, White, and Bora Purple.
