Introduction
The Galaxy Buds 3 were launched on July 10, 2024 as the long-awaited direct sequel to the Galaxy Buds 2. The Buds 3 are a major departure from all Galaxy earbuds launched before 2024 in terms of design and boast a number of impressive features.
Design
The Galaxy Buds 3 have an Apple AirPods-like stem design that provides more comfort to the wearer without completely blocking the ear canals. The stem design also brings the microphone a little closer to the mouth, which improves voice quality in calls.
The Galaxy Buds 3 feature an IP57 rating for dust and water resistance and come in silver and white. They also sit in a redesigned case, which matches the color of the earbuds. The dimensions for each earbud are 18.1 x 20.4 x 31.9 mm, while the charging case measures 58.9 x 48.7 x 24.4 mm. Each earbud weighs 4.7g and the charging case weighs 46.5g.
Specifications and Features
The Galaxy Buds 3 come with several exciting new features. They are equipped with 11mm dynamic drivers and support Bluetooth 5.4. Samsung also introduced a new audio codec called Samsung Seamless Codec Ultra High Quality (SSD UHQ) for 24-bit 96KHz audio transmission.
The Buds 3 feature Super-Wideband (SWB) technology for higher-quality calls. The Buds 3 also support Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), which is enhanced by Galaxy AI and can now vary the level of noise cancellation based on ambient noise levels.
Thanks to the new design, control gestures have also improved. You can pinch the stem of the Galaxy Buds 3 to pause/play music, go back to the previous track, or skip to the next one. You can use swipe gestures to increase or decrease the volume. Voice commands can also be used for controlling music playback.
Like previous Galaxy Buds, the Galaxy Buds 3 support auto switching between various Samsung devices, such as phones, tablets, and laptops. If you misplace them, the earbuds can be found using the Samsung Find app.
Each earbud has a 48mAh battery. The charging case includes a 515mAh battery and supports both wired and Qi wireless charging. The earbuds can provide up to five hours of play time with ANC turned on and six hours with ANC turned off. The case provides up to 24 hours and 30 hours of battery life with ANC on and ANC off respectively.
