Introduction
Years after Samsung discontinued the Galaxy C series of smartphones, the company brought it back to the modern age with the Galaxy C55. The Galaxy C55 is exclusive to the Chinese market and is the first phone from Samsung to feature a leather back panel.
Design
The Galaxy C55's claim to fame is a back panel made of stitched vegan leather, with Samsung offering the device in orange and black. Like the Galaxy M55, which it also shares its specs with, the Galaxy C55 boasts a 7.8 mm profile. The complete dimensions of the phone are 163.9 x 76.5 x 7.8 mm and it weights 180 grams.
Display
The Galaxy C55 sports a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED+ screen with Full HD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, 1,000 nits of peak brightness, and Vision Booster. The display has a circular punch hole that houses the 50MP front-facing camera. Dragontrail glass protects the screen from damage.
For media viewing and gaming, the display is complemented by stereo speakers and Dolby Atmos support. The display also features an in-display fingerprint sensor of the optical variety.
Specs
The Galaxy C55 shares its specs with the Galaxy M55. It is powered by the octa-core Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset and comes with either 8GB or 12GB of RAM. Samsung offers 128GB and 256GB storage options, and the phone supports microSD cards as large as 1TB.
There is a 5,000 mAh under the Galaxy C55's hood. The phone supports 45W super fast charging. Connectivity features include Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax 2.4GHz+5GHz, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, 5G, and GPS. It has a USB-C port but lacks a 3.5mm headphone port.
Camera
The Galaxy C55 has a 50MP main rear camera that is flanked by an 8MP ultra-wide camera and a 2MP macro camera. The front-facing camera boasts a 50MP sensor as well. The phone can record videos at 1080p@30/60 fps and 4K@30 fps. The main rear camera features optical image stabilization and Video Digital Image Stabilization (VDIS). The C55 comes with a Dual Recording mode that can record videos from the primary rear and front-facing cameras.
Software and features
The Galaxy F55 comes preloaded with Android 14 and One UI 6.1. At launch, it didn't include any of the Galaxy AI features that debuted with One UI 6.1. It is eligible for four years of major OS upgrades and five years of security updates.
Availability and price
The Galaxy C55 was introduced in China in April 2024. Its pricing was not formally announced.
