Introduction

The Galaxy S22+ sits in the middle of the entry-level Galaxy S22 and the top-of-the-line Galaxy S22 Ultra. It strikes a delicate balance in the lineup, offering just enough to make it start out from the base model but not overshadow its Ultra sibling.

It's a great option for customers who appreciate the additional functionality that the Galaxy S22+ offers and aren't all that willing to spend top dollar for the high-end model. After all, the Galaxy S22+ is a great flagship in its own right.

Design

Samsung hasn't made any significant changes to the design. The Galaxy S22+ looks quite similar to its predecessor and that's not exactly a bad thing. The device looks and feels quite premium thanks to its metal and glass build.

The physical buttons are all on the right side of the frame. There's also a USB-C port at the bottom. Don't search for the headphone jack and microSD card slot but both are missing from the Galaxy S22+.

Specifications

Samsung's 2022 flagship models come with advanced 4nm chipsets that have an integrated 5G modem. Availability depends on the market. The Galaxy S22 will ship with the Exynos 2200 and the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. The Exynos 2200 has a custom mobile GPU that Samsung has worked on with AMD.

There's 8GB of RAM that can be paired with 128GB and 256GB of storage. It has a bigger battery, 4,500mAh to be precise, that has support for up to 45W wired charging. There's also support for 15W wireless charging and Wireless PowerShare.

Display

The 6.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display has an FHD+ resolution and an adaptive 120Hz refresh rate. This enables the panel to adjust the refresh rate from 10 – 120Hz depending on the need.

It's an effective way of preserving battery life while providing a super smooth viewing experience. The display can reach a peak brightness of up to 1750 nits on the Galaxy S22+.

Camera

The Galaxy S22+ has the exact same camera setup as the Galaxy S22. It includes a 12-megapixel ultra-wide sensor with a 50-megapixel wide-angle sensor. There a 10-megapixel telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. A 10-megapixel front camera performs selfie duties.

Significant improvements have been made to the camera hardware and software to provide an improved photography and videography experience, particularly in low-light conditions.

Software and Features

Android 12 is present on the Galaxy S22+ out of the box. Samsung has confirmed that the Galaxy S22+ is on the list of devices that will receive four Android OS upgrades. The handset is also going to get five years of security updates.

Availability and Price

Pricing for the Galaxy S22+ starts at $999 with February 25, 2022 being the day it hit shelves. Color options include Phantom White and Black with Green and Pink Gold. Exclusive color options available through Samsung.com include Graphite, Cream, Violet and Sky Blue.
