Introduction
The Galaxy S24 FE will be Samsung's third Fan Edition smartphone in the Galaxy S lineup. Like its predecessors, the S24 FE will offer many of the features found on Samsung's latest Galaxy S flagship series at a cheaper price.
Design
The Galaxy S24 FE shares its design with the Galaxy S24 and S24+, as revealed by leaked press images and live photos of the phone. It will have rounded corners, flat aluminum sides, and glass on the front and back. However, its bezels will be bigger and larger on the bottom compared to the top, left, and right.
The Galaxy S24 FE will come in five color: blue, graphite, mint, silver, and yellow.
Specifications
The Galaxy S24 FE is expected to feature the Exynos 2400 chipset in most markets, even the US. Samsung is making the display slightly larger by shifting from a 6.4 inch panel to a 6.7-inch panel. The new display will be brighter, too, with a maximum brightness of 1900 nits, up from the 1450 nits peak brightness on the S23 FE.
The display will have Full HD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and Gorilla Glass Victus+ protection. The phone's design will be IP67-certified, making it resistant to dust and water. The camera setup will include a 10MP selfie camera, a 50MP primary rear camera, a 12MP ultrawide camera, and an 8MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom.
The Galaxy S24 FE will feature a 4,565mAh battery, which will likely be advertised as a 4,700 mAh battery. This will be the first time the Galaxy S FE lineup will get a battery capacity upgrade. Combined with the more efficient processor, it should result in notably improved battery life. According to Samsung's official claims, the S24 FE can last for up to 78 hours of audio playback and 29 hours of video playback on a single charge.
The phone will have all the modern connectivity features, including Wi-Fi 6E and 5G connectivity (Wi-Fi 7 will be unavailable as the Exynos 2400 does not support the new Wi-Fi standard).
Software and Features
The Galaxy S24 FE will come with Android 14 and One UI 6.1.1 out of the box, even if it hits retail shelves after Android 15 and One UI 7 have gone live for Galaxy smartphones. Like the S23 FE, the Galaxy S24 FE will offer much of the Galaxy AI features that are available on the latest flagship Samsung smartphones.
As of August 31, it's unclear if the Galaxy S24 FE will be eligible for seven years of OS and security updates.
Availability and Price
The Galaxy S24 FE will likely cost slightly more than the Galaxy S23 FE, at least in the US, where the 2023 model was priced at $599. In other markets, the S23 FE's $699 price tag might carry over unchanged to the Galaxy S24 FE.
