Introduction
Despite launching alongside the Galaxy Tab A9, the Galaxy Tab A9+ feels quite different. It has more powerful internals and its software experience is closer to what customers have come to expect from Samsung smartphones and tablets.
Design
The Galaxy Tab A9+ shares its design with the Galaxy Tab A9, with an all-screen front and a barren back with a single camera sensor. The tablet has a metallic build, and like the Tab A9, comes in navy blue (Mystic Navy), graphite, and silver (Mystic Silver).
The device features a USB-C port, four speakers, and a 3.5mm headphone port. Its dimensions measure 168.7 x 257.1 x 6.9 mm and it weights 480g for the Wi-Fi variant and 491g for the 5G variant.
Display and cameras
The Galaxy Tab A9+ display measures 11 inches. It is an LCD panel with a 90Hz refresh rate and Full HD+ (1920×1200 pixels) resolution. Fancy features such as HDR are not supported, so the large size and high refresh rate are the main attractions. The Tab A9+ does offer high-quality sound thanks to four speakers that support Dolby Atmos.
For photography and video calls, the Galaxy Tab A9+ is equipped with an 8-megapixel autofocus camera at the back and a 5-megapixel camera at the front. Video recording is supported at a maximum of Full HD (1920×1080) resolution and 30 frames per second.
Specifications
The Galaxy Tab A9+ is equipped with the Snapdragon 695 chipset, which has two cores clocked at 2.2GHz and six clocked at 1.7GHz and sports the Adreno 619 GPU. The tablet can be purchased with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage or 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, with a microSD card offering expansion of storage by up to 1TB.
There's a 7,040 mAh battery on this tablet that can be charged at 15W. The Tab A9+ supports 5G connectivity but also has a Wi-Fi-only variant that costs less. The cellular version comes with dual SIM slots and also supports an eSIM.
Software and features
The Tab A9+ runs Android 13 and One UI 5.1.1 out of the box. It supports multitasking with up to three apps on-screen at the same time, and Samsung DeX is also built in so customers can access a desktop UI to get more work done, especially when combined with Samsung's Book Cover, Book Cover Keyboard Slim accessories. Customers also get standard features like Quick Share and Secure Folder for a software experience that punches above its weight.
Availability and price
The Galaxy Tab A9+ is priced at roughly $225 for the Wi-Fi model and $275 for the 5G model, though prices can vary slightly by market. The tablet hit retail shelves across the globe on October 23, 2023.
