Samsung sells two kinds of high-end TVs: OLED and Neo QLED. The Samsung QN90D is the company's mid-range 4K Neo QLED TV, and it was launched in 2024. It sits above the entry-level QN85D TV and below the flagship QN95D TV. It has many more local dimming zones than the QN85D, a higher refresh rate, and a better speaker system than the QN85D.

Display features

The QN90D comes in five sizes: 55-inch, 65-inch, 75-inch, 85-inch, and 98-inch. All these variants use a 4K Mini LED display panel with a maximum refresh rate of up to 144Hz. The TV has hundreds of local dimming zones, but the number varies depending on the display size. The 65-inch version has 720 local dimming zones.

The TV features HDR10, HDR10+ ADAPTIVE, HDR10 GAMING, and HLG. Tests have shown that the TV can reach a peak brightness of over 2,100 nits in real scenes. It has an anti-reflective coating to reduce glare and reflections.

Gaming features

The QN90D is a great TV for gaming. It offers a variable refresh rate of up to 144Hz when connected to a gaming PC and up to 120Hz when connected to gaming consoles. The AMD FreeSync Premium Pro feature offers a tear-free gaming experience. Gaming is further elevated with features like Auto Low-Latency Mode (ALLM), Game Motion Plus, Mini Map Zoom, Super Ultrawide Game View, and Variable Refresh Rate (VRR).

Game Bar displays all the gaming-related features and offers 21:9 and 32:9 aspect ratio options when connected to compatible devices, such as a gaming laptop or a gaming PC. The AI Auto Game Mode analyzes the game to automatically adjust the TV's settings for the best possible experience.

Audio features

It has a 4.2.2-channel 60W speaker setup with Dolby Atmos and Dolby Digital Plus. Even if you don't have a dedicated multi-channel speaker setup, you can still experience Dolby Atmos audio using the TV's built-in speakers. But if you pair the TV with a Samsung soundbar, you can have an even better experience, thanks to Q-Symphony, which uses the speakers on the soundbar and the TV simultaneously for a more impactful and immersive audio experience.

Some other audio-enhancing features of the QN90D include 360 Audio, Active Voice Amplifier Pro, Adaptive Sound Pro, and Object Tracking Sound Pro.

Connectivity features

The QN90D has Bluetooth 5.2, Wi-Fi 5, four HDMI 2.1 ports (one with eARC), HDMI CEC, an optical audio output port, an Ethernet port, two USB Type-A ports, and an RF port.

You can wirelessly mirror the screen of your laptop, PC, smartphone, or tablet to the TV using AirPlay 2, Miracast, or Smart View. You can also use Tap Sound and Tap View for audio and video casting from your phone.
