The S90C is Samsung's high-end 4K TV featuring a QD-OLED screen. It was launched in early 2023 during the CES 2023 event. It sat one step below the company's flagship OLED TV that year, the S95C. It was launched in four sizes: 55-inch, 65-inch, 77-inch, and 83-inch. However, the 83-inch version used LG's WRGB OLED panel instead of Samsung's QD-OLED panel.

It received several accolades from professional testers and reviewers, becoming among the highest-rated TVs launched in 2023. It offered exceptional picture quality for the price, which started at $1,900 in the US but was frequently sold at $1,300 from several retailers, including Samsung.

What are the top features of the S90C QD-OLED TV?

The S90C uses a 4K QD-OLED panel in 55-inch, 65-inch, and 77-inch models and LG Display's 4K WRGB OLED panel in the 83-inch version. It features HDR10, HDR10+ ADAPTIVE, and HLG. Thanks to its OLED screen, it offers perfectly inky blacks and an infinite contrast ratio. It also features up to 1,000 nits peak brightness during HDR scenes.

It is a PANTONE Validated TV, which means the colors are extremely accurate according to PANTONE's tests. PANTONE is an American firm that provides color standards and a color-matching system. The TV's screen also has an anti-reflection coating to reduce glare. If you don't want to deal with color calibration, you can use its Filmmaker Mode for more accurate colors.

It has a variable refresh rate of up to 144Hz, AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, and Auto Low-Latency Mode (ALLM). When connected to a gaming console (like PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X) or a gaming PC, it offers a tear-free gaming experience. The refresh rate is limited to 120Hz for gaming consoles, while a 144Hz refresh rate can be reached when connected to a gaming PC. Some other gaming-related features include Super Ultra Wide Game View (only for PC games), Mini Map Zoom, and Samsung Gaming Hub.

Samsung's S90C has a 2.1-channel speaker system with 40W RMS audio output. It is compatible with Dolby Atmos and Dolby Digital Plus. Thanks to its Q-Symphony feature, it can be paired with a Samsung soundbar to simultaneously reproduce audio from the soundbar and TV speakers for a more impactful sound. Other audio features of the TV include Active Voice Amplifier, Adaptive Sound+, and Object Tracking Sound. It can also transmit audio to two Bluetooth earphones simultaneously.

Like all other Samsung smart TVs, this TV runs Tizen OS. You can install all your favorite music and streaming apps. The TV can also act as a SmartThings Hub for controlling compatible smart home devices from the TV or Samsung's SmartThings app. It also features free video streaming via Samsung TV Plus.

Samsung TV Plus Home Screen

It has Ambient Mode+, which displays high-quality video screensavers when you are not watching TV. It also features a built-in ambient light sensor and microphone, so it can adjust the TV's brightness and volume accordingly. It can also display two video streams simultaneously. It has a built-in web browser and multiple digital voice assistants (Alexa, Bixby, and Google Assistant).

Its connectivity features include Bluetooth 5.2, Wi-Fi 5, Wi-Fi Direct, Miracast, AirPlay 2, Smart View, Tap View, and Tap Sound. Using AirPlay 2, Miracast, and Smart View, you can mirror your laptop's or phone's screen to the S90C TV. The TV supports a split-screen view (Multi View) where it can mirror your device's screen in one part of the TV's screen and continue displaying whatever you were watching in the remaining part of the screen.

The S90C has four HDMI 2.1 ports (4K 144Hz), out of which one HDMI port supports eARC. It also has an optical audio output port, an Ethernet port, and two USB Type-A ports. Samsung bundles a SolarCell Remote with this TV. It can be charged via a USB Type-C port or through the ambient light using its solar panel.

What is the difference between S90C and S95C?

The S90C is cheaper than the S95C, so it misses out on some features found on the S95C. The S95C has a more premium stand (Infinity One), a 4.2.2-channel speaker system with 70W audio, and Samsung's One Connect Box. It also has three USB Type-A ports, one more than the S90C.

Their VESA mount measurements are also different. The S90C uses a 300 x 200 VESA mount, while the S95C features a 400 x 400 VESA mount.
